I have changed my HDD to Samsung SSD (840 EVO):

1) Installed the Samsung-Software onto my (old) System-Disk.

2) Connected the Samsung-SSD via USB to the PC and started the Samsung-Tool Magician which transferred/copied the System-Disk (250GB) onto the Samsung-SSD (250GB).

3) Replaced the old System-HDD by the Samsung-SSD.

4) Start the PC - all worked well without any problem!! (inclusive Edius).

5) Optimized the System - works well still :-)

6) Started the standard Windows tool to get a System-image - no problem.

Hope this info is of any value for you.
