David is correct if you only use EDIUS as Quicksync does make a lot of difference. Other programs may benefit a lot more though from extra cores or the ability to use fast GPU's. As I mentioned my Threadripper 1920 is only a little bit faster than my 4790K with EDIUS for timeline playback. Encode is a little different as BLuray m2ts export is about the same speed as QS. However the Threadripper is a lot faster with just about everything else I have on the PC.

The extra cores also mean I can do something else while TMPgenc is encoding etc.

For EDIUS alone the 9900K would be the number one choice at the moment. If EDIUS could use the GPU's like Resolve then it may be different. Maybe EDIUS 10.
