HEVC format

A client has sent me a file from iphone X in HEVC format. 4K 30p.
I'm using Edius 8 and it's not viewable. Does it need to be converted before Edius likes its? Any suggestions on using these HEVC...

When I render to H.264/AVC, the client can play the file fine on vanilla windows
with WMP. I was looking to deliver a better quality video file with uncompressed audio, without extra needed codecs...

The clips are coming from the Sony FS7 10bit HD 422 MPEG2 50 MBPS
I've even tried loading older clips from the EX1R 8bit XDCAM 35 MBPS
Same thing.
