I would just like to add that Grass Valley codecs are great from going from one EDIUS system to another but sometimes even programs that do understand the codec get things wrong like the field order...

Not that I know of. I can't see how it would work without EDIUS being reprogramed. EDIUS can take 6 separate tracks and route them to the correct speakers for output - front left, right, centre etc...
