Best lossless video codec is UtVideo (fastest codec on Earth:), which also now has MAC support.

Forget about Quadro if it's just for Edius- waste of money- won't gain anything. Some models are good when you don't want to waste 2...

Mentioned ones won't override Edius codecs, but avoid codec packs.
Edius codecs are used only by GV. All Edius exporters (except QT) are internal and can't be broken by some other software.

Video is up to 40Mbit.
Video+audio+subs+rest is up to 48Mbit. Players read disc at 54Mbit and buffer data.

DVD also has some headroom.

AVC should be better- check settings and use quality mode, where possible. Edius AVC exporter is not the best- if you have short source I would use MPEG2, at 35Mbit- you should be happy with quality...

HQ for SD softens picture (when previewing on HD monitor)- it was not designed for SD footage- bitrate is to low even at highest settings.
