OFX Bridge open beta

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone:

As you may have noticed we have made the OFX bridge available for download.
With the first release of the OFX Bridge, we are supporting Sapphire
from Genarts, Magic Bullet Looks from Red Giant, and Beauty Box
from Digital Anarchy. Over time we will extend support to other Open-
FX plug-ins.

OFX plugs:
Some plug-in manufactures have a unified installer for all of their
OpenFX platforms. Others have separate installer packages.
If you want to use a plug-in which has separate installer package for
each OpenFX platform it is recommended that you select the package
which is compatible with DaVinci Resolve (64-bit).

If you have installed the OFX Bridge we would like to receive your feedback. This will help us to make it better.

Thanks in advance,

* If you want to download the OFX Bridge go www.grassvalley.com login and go to the EDIUS 8 download section.

I'd rather prefer a native OFX host built into EDIUS but I understand the benefits of outsourcing to a third party who uses the bridge paradigm. I just find the necessity to apply the OFX bridge and then to go into its settings to select OFX plugins somewhat cumbersome. The interesting side effect is that one can deactivate all OFX filters with a single click :)

Here, the bridge does not "see" some old plugins like yadif. Not an issue but good to be known.

Regarding the UI: when you want to re-order the filters stack you have to put the mouse pointer on the expand/collapse icon. I think that enabling the drag event callback onto the whole FX name bar widget could be a more intuitive way of doing things.

I don't get the need to activate keyframe automation in order to get the transport controls to work. No way to review keyframes, I was expecting a lanes "thing" with bezier curves for each slider. I suspect this is still a work in progress.

Apparently no way to save/recall user presets. A simple XML scheme could allow that.

Actually no crash even if it do silly things. I will have a try with Twixtor for the fun !

A great feature for EDIUS is there now. Thanks !

If you do not activate the animation tick box you cannot scrub in the OFX bridge but you can scrub and play on the EDIUS timeline which is how I use it.

In my humble opinion, scrub from the bridge UI should not depend on automation switch state.

I had a try with Twixtor, I thought it would not work and it didn't. What is great is that the bridge outputs a red frame, no crash, and EDIUS still rock solid.

I agree but it currently does not let you scrub in the interface without enabling animation, so scrubbing EDIUS is a way round it.

Twixtor probably does not work because there is something about the way EDIUS works with plug-ins which means time plug-ins - slow motion etc.. don't work. It is the same with Boris Red which has been working in EDIUS for ages.

It has to do with the Edius SDK and how it works, or will not work, with Temporal items.

Hi there, in the APP notes, we can see the BCC plugin. What can we do to get it working, if it is not shown in our list of avail. plugins?
Thanks, Martin

You will have to wait until BCC 10 is released for use with the bridge.
