New hardware for storm mobile or storm plus

i am going to buy a new system with storm mobile or HD storm plus.
first of all, they have told me that both cards have the same qualityn, the only difference is the first is without a PCI card. Is this so or is the one better in quality the the other.

Now for the system itself, i was thinking of the following configuration :

Intel Core I7 2600(k) or 2700k ? Could somebody indicate what processor is best, prefferably with the correct indication of i7 core since for 2600 there are at least 3 variants.

Motherboard Gigabyte Z68 ... (have to define this yet, suggestons are always welcome)

16GB Ram Crossair dominator DDR3 1333 (or should i go for 1600 speed)

Graphics card Zotax GTX 550 Ti Amp edition (or should i gon higher 560/570/580)

Ok, HDD and SSD are ofcourse included and for the power supply i was thinking of the ANTEC 650W TRUEPOWER TP-650 EC, again, should i go higher to a 850 or other brand?

As you see a lot of questions. I was out of the running for more then 8 years on this. I have some slack in the budget so any advice is welcome and already a big thanks for your thime in these bussy holiday days.

I'm buying the components for a new build.

Anton recommend this MB ...Asrock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 Intel Z68.
I have a 2700K.
Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5

the 2600K is the way to go. Your board will alow you to overclock the 2600K to speeds higher than the stock 2700K and much more.

put the cash saved towards the build.

I was going to reuse my Thermaltake 650watt PSU for my 3930K build. I couldnt really find any good info on this so i was going to try my 650watt out.

I figured we dont run DUAL or 3 power hungry video cards , but we generally use alot of other components that eat up juice.

i hope someone has some good scientific answers to this.

Depending which part of the world you live in prizes can varry quite a bit.
I have found to be minimal difference between 1333 & 1600 speed for the ram.
If over clock is your middle name go for 1600, otherwise get a nicer GPU card.
If beside Edius you use other big name compositing and NLE software get a big GPU card, for Edius alone a medium end will do.
Keep in mind when building a system that double the budget doesn't mean double the power, al things must be a ballanced match.

As power supply price don't change much between models I would go for the bigger one, this will always give you more freedom for internal upgrades.

STORM MObile can do 10 bit captures, capture to MPEG2 MXF files and AVCHD intra (STORM plus is just Canopus HQ), will downscale to standard def from and HD timeline as well as output HD through HDMI and can output video at 1080 50i from a 1080 50P project.

IMO the STORM Plus is good, STORM Mobile is better. The cost is the same get the STORM Mobile.

Ok, thx for the respons already guys.
I will go for the 2600K processor then and the 1333 ram, i am not into over clocking .
For the MB I will choose a Z68 with the intel chipset, so if it is gigabyte or Asrock, i think that will not mattter.
Regarding the graphics card, is there a better sollution then the one with GTX550 or GTX 560 chipset ? Brand does not matter for me.

I ran 2600K and Corsair 8GB/16GB vengeance kit (1333) on highest EasyTune OC'ed in Gigabyte Z68 board with no problems so far.

Hi Guys,

Yesterday i ordered my new system.

I have ordered the Storm mobil

This is what i am waiting for :

Intel 2600K processor
Asus ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5 Graphic card
16 GB Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B (was cheaper then the 1333 ram)
Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Gen3
And a thermale take power supply of 1050 W

I hope this system will rock, unfortunatly i will have to wait until after Xmass to get my system.

Thx for your advice here.
