Ok, actually reading the MB specs I see that it supports only dual channel:

- Dual Channel DDR4 Memory Technology
- 4 x DDR4 DIMM Slots
- Supports DDR4 4200+(OC)/ 4133(OC) / 4000(OC) / 3866(OC) / 3800(OC) / 3733(OC) / 3600(OC) / 3200(OC) / 2933(OC) / 2800(OC) / 2666 / 2400 / 2133 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Supports ECC UDIMM memory modules (operate in non-ECC mode)
- Max. capacity of system memory: 128GB*
- Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 2.0
- 15μ Gold Contact in DIMM Slots

when it comes to motherboards, I would not think about a saving plan

Sad but true. Time to click the BUY button...

Thanks Anton

In the end I bought:
  • processor:Intel i9-9900K
  • MB: ASRock Z390 Taichi
  • RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4, 3GHz
  • PSU: Corsair RM850x
  • SSD: 1x500GB + 1x2TB Samsung EVO
  • Liquid Cooling: Fractal design Celsius S24
  • GPU: MSI GTX 1660 6GB DDR5

Well beyond my initial budget (as usual). I'm not a pro, just an enthusiast home editor.
The whole system is very unstable. No way to boot with default parameters.
Checking ASRock forums I see their current BIOS impl. is a nightmare. I tried all their tips & tricks but 20% of the times the machine doesn't boot or restart. RAM is on MB VCL. It's not my first or last build. I'm not even trying to OC but just getting a stable default configuration but it seem that ATM it's not possible to get a stable build with default parameters. In 8 months AsRock released an endless list of BIOS versions. My bad I did not check user's feedback before buying.

IMHO beware from ASRock Z390 MB right now

Holy Amazon, I asked RMA for MB and RAM (just in case). I'll see what happen with an ASUS MB.
