Windows 7 Service pack & FCB

I installed the Windows 7 service pack 1 and now I can't export via FCB. When I try, EDIUS tells me in red letters "Failed to export". I reinstalled the drivers but still get the message. EDIUS recognizes the card but won't export via FCB. I tried a few different projects and timelines. Same thing.

p.s. If I export CanopusHQ and convert it via Firecoder Writer, that works, so the card seems ok but that is not an option for me. I need to be able to export via EDIUS.

Also, since the windows update, the audio waveform is disappearing like crazy (every 5 minutes).

Any ideas?

Try a system restore from before your courages update :)
Again, lesson learned, do not blindly update.

Any chance you have a HDD image ?

I tried. I didn't do a system restore but uninstalled the Windows update. Still isn't exporting.

This Service Pack is not the final realese. Please look at Microsoft's site.

Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 have been finalized and released to OEMs. It is entirely possible that is has already been leaked somewhere.

Regardless, I agree, you don't blindly install something as substantial as a service pack, at least not without a backup image of the entire system.

I would check the Windows logs using Event Viewer and see if there is anything in it that could explain the failure to export.

THoff:
My information was learned in this site: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/e.../ff384134.aspx Probably you have better information than me.

THoff 01-18-2011 09:23 PM

The release of SP1 to OEMs was a very recent development.

It has been documented over the past couple of months on various forums and of course by m$, it is a collection of all past hotfixes with really no improvements other than for remote system administrators.

There is nothing to gain if you use automatic update, surely nothing for a Editing system, and really nothing at all if your system has been running fine !

p.s. system restore often (with me always) fails to work, therefore it is switched off on all my systems, I make use of Acronis (or equivalent), so should all of you ............................

It has been floating around on various Russian sites, when downloading from there make sure you compare the MD5 hash to make sure it hasn't been tempered with !

Better yet, stay away, don't use it.

I downloaded it from the http://windows7forums.com forum, witch is a respected site and I am an administrator there, so tampering wasn't the issue for me.

For what it's worth, I installed SP1 (received directly from Microsoft) on my editing system running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate and encountered no problems with Edius 6.

I do not have a FCB or other editing hardware so I cannot comment on possible compatibility issues there -- a software-only editing environment works fine, however.

Amen to that Acronis has saved me from a lot of long. long days reinstalling and tweaking an edit workstation.....plus when you really want to be sure you got every last bit of a virus or a trojan you picked up you can't beat it...sort of like using an atom bomb to swat a mosquito, but love the fact that you can launch acronis from the bios and and an hr or so later everything's fine again...

No problems here with Win 7 Pro. SP1 and Firecoder Blu.

MPPais 02-23-2011 09:36 PM

No problemes with Windows 7 Service Pack 1. Edius 6.02 and FirecoderBlu 1.11 are running correctly. The same with DVDit! HD Pro, TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 and TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5+SpursEngine.

Crespel 02-24-2011 06:33 PM

No Problems here with Win7 Ult. SP1 and FCB or Edius 5.x.

MPPais 02-26-2011 03:04 PM

Also with Procoder 3.06 (last update). I am waiting a plugin to Edius 6.02...
