Exporting back to SxS card

Has anyone done this so that it is read by the camera? If so what steps do you use?

You must be away from your gear...

When using the Export function simply pick XDCam settings and enable conversion with the EX settings of your choice. You can choose to write to a card if there is one on your system and it will span full cards (if needed).

Surprisingly easy and works right out of the box.

I gave them the exact steps, but I do not have an SxS camera. I have a client that says the camera cannot playback the file that is exported back to the card. It works perfectly going to a folder.

I just wanted some confirmation from someone that has actaully plyed it out in the camera and to see if there wee nay hidden steps where they could possibly be going wrong.

Here's How...

With the camera plugged in via USB or a SxS reader...

1. Print to File
2. XDCAM EX Exporter
3. Pick "Enable Conversion"
4. Choose XDCAM EX
5. Export
6. Destination - pick Sony - SxS Memory Card (pick drive letter)
7. Set - Mode, titles, etc.
8. OK

Interesting use of CPU
Works on laptop w/built-in express34 and main edit with the Sony card reader.

Thanks for the help Rusty, but I don't see anything different from what I have told them

OK, try these steps and let me know how it works.
1. Select F11. On the left hand side select XDCAM and on the bottom left hand corner check Enable Conversion
2. Now scroll down about half way on the right hand side and select XDCAM EX HQ 1920x1080 59.94i
3. Click on the Export button
4. Select the destination (I think you guys have Sony?) You can fill in metadata if needed in the other boxes.
5. Click OK

Have you tried playing it back in the actual camera yet? If not, can you do that? It sounds like everything is working for them, but the camera will not play it back. I am going to check with them on their camera settings for playback as that sounds like the most likely problem.

Works no prob on the camera.
The filenames and other parameters may not be 100% Sony, but the video plays perfectly.

Be sure they are using EX compliant settings.
This is pretty much a no-brainer on the Edius side.
