Edius 8.5 issues
Hello everyone!!

I just updated from 8.3 to 8.5 and I noticed 2 weird things.

First: I can not do more that 2 undo

Second: If I low the volume in one clip, then in the next clip if I cut and delete or press the "N" button , it makes the cut but it also automatically lowers the volume to reach the previous clip level. Why is this happenning?

thank you in advance

Is it possible to make a screen recording of the audio issue? I cannot reproduce the audio issue on the systems here.
Als undo doesnot seem to be an issue.

can both points NOT confirm, on Edius 8.5.1988 (installed without virenscanners)

point 1, undo issue, ... looks the attachement

point 2, audio issue behind trimm per [N]
a)tested with reduce audio per rubberband
b) tested with reduce audio per filter "Panaorama&Balance - 12dB"

all tested on Windows_7 prof

I closed and run again Edius and undo now works fine.
Audio is still a problem and now audio level moves even if I put the curson on the clip.
Here it is

LewS 05-04-2017 02:55 PM

Cannot reproduce.

George Glou 05-04-2017 03:00 PM

At least does everyone can see clear what is going on? even if you can not reproduce it?

LewS 05-04-2017 03:09 PM

I watched you screen capture but my system does not behave that way.

Sorry I have not able to reproduce this.
Do you use the latest version of 8.5?

George Glou 05-04-2017 07:19 PM

Yes. Today I downloaded it and install it.

Rusty 05-04-2017 07:41 PM

I think I sort of see what may be going on, Edius may be working around another setting.
Any unusual mouse settings?

George Glou 05-04-2017 07:45 PM

No Rusty. Nothing unusual. In version 8.3 everything was working perfect. Just after installing the new version this issue came up

antonsvideo 05-04-2017 09:20 PM

Can I see the clip name of the clip prior to the cut, so that I can see both clip names

Yes Anton.
Here it is

George Glou 05-05-2017 10:00 AM

OK Something new. The audio level is automatically changes to the previous OR to the next clip's audio level ONLY if I change the audio level from the audio mixer.
So if I change the level with ALT+left mouse clik and then I go to the previous or next clip, then everything is ok.
So it must be something with the Audio mixer.

Unforynatelly its not good again. If I change audio level with ALT+mouse click and then I click the next clip and previous again....then audio is also changing.
Its a CHAOS. I dont think I can edit like this.

antonsvideo 05-05-2017 10:34 AM

could you try if this problem goes away when using V+A tracks instead of VA

maybe it is a bug with VA

I don't use VA tracks but will do some testing to see if I can repeat your finding

George Glou 05-05-2017 10:41 AM

In seperately V & A track its still happening ony if I change the level from the audio mixer.
ALT+mouse. is OK

I tested with VA and can't repeat it, see attached

can you tell me the file size of your clip 00005

if it is 3.99GB than it could be that clip 00006 is a continuation of the same clip that was split by the camera due to the 4GB size limit per clip

btw, why are you dragging the node when moving whole line? you can just drag the line anywhere, no need to try and get mouse pointer on that half cut node

also, normalize clip works a lot better for me than dragging lines, I no longer do that because the volume lines are in the wrong position, they are way too low to the bottom instead of being in the middle

George Glou 05-05-2017 11:20 AM

Each clip is about 20 mb. There are short clips from a wedding car. its about 7 sec.
Sometimes I dont need sound(so I have to lower it) and then if I want to let the groom for example to be heard, then I have to play with the audio level to find out in which level he sounds ok. So I do have to play with the audio bar.
If I intall the previous version of Edius will it cause something bad? Can I do that? Because this audio issue drives me crazy.

antonsvideo 05-05-2017 01:10 PM

yes, you can use the previous version with no harm done to your project

I will do some more testing to see if I can figure out what setting could cause this

antonsvideo 05-06-2017 01:39 AM

I tried for an hour now and can't repeat

can you upload two short clips that cause this issue so I can test, in case it is file format related

good news

after watching your video several times, the light bulb turned on in my head

I can confirm that this is a bug and it does not happen in previous version

Note: it only happens if you roll the mouse wheel to change the level or if you type a value (new 8.5 feature). It does not happen when dragging slider

see attached

antonsvideo 05-06-2017 03:08 AM

I reported it

George Glou 05-06-2017 01:20 PM

I can confirm that !!!!!
Thats cool Anton. At least I dont have to use the mouse wheel until there is a fix.
Thank you Anton !!!!!
