Thanks Andrew for the info re headers, If I remember correctly when I looked into 4K on Youtube they had a link to an app that would add the metadata headers for HDR. Peter

Grassvalley sure needs to step up to the plate and give us our monies worth, especially in Edius 9 and real time 4k editing in all levels of Edius software

Thanks Andrew for the ffmpeg code to add all the various header data required for HDR TV playback. I had hoped that the latest version of Resolve 14 would have included this when exporting. Hopefully Edius 9 when it arrives will include improved colour grading features for HDR and H265 export with all the required headers to save having to use ffmpeg to complete the job.

I will be working on my first UHD HDR project late next month so I will carry out some tests and let you know how it goes. Thanks Peter

Once Resolve 14 gets out of beta, I'll be using it for Audio Editing when I have multiple audio tracks. Bring in my picture cut from Edius and use the fantastic Fairlight Audio program with Real waveforms. Will blow Edius away.

Of course, if I only have 1 audio track and music on the 2nd track, I'll stay in Edius. Can't believe Fairlight will be free.

Click [Match Frame (Player to Recorder)] on the Player (add the match frame tool button to the player)

I mean that the source time codes match to the timeline time code, your example shows some random TC that bares no relation to the shoot day code at all. I want the sources and recorder T/C to be all the same - I want to drop all my time of day sources to a matching time of day timeline - ie. all the codes match, as you would in the old days of multi machine tape editing, you punch identical code into recorder and source machines and they all line up, so 10:30:01:01 on the timeline is locked to 10:30:01:01 on all your sources retaining full sync. I want Edius to simply auto drop everything as it happened to the same timeline code.

I shoot multiple days with multiple cams - I create a sequence for each day - I was there, filming so I know what was going on and having the whole project laid out in this way stops me from going mad after shooting 10 hours a day.

Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong

Paul :-)

Agreed - Resolve 14 has a new playback engine and claims 10X performance improvement over ver 12.5 but we have yet to see it. H.264 4k/UHD editing on an i7 still needs transcoding to an intermediate codec to work. Paid Studio version only has NVIDIA accelerated decoding but there is no way to test without buying it. No Intel GPU H.264/265 support.
In addition to color it has many impressive powerful edit features.
Runs on Win10,Linux, and IOS.
Price reduced to $299 which is attractive.
Still limited format/codec support.
I have tested the 14 betas and final release still has some bugs.
Overall I'm disappointed.
