Looking for filters / editing ability / light leaks like this video??? How to do ?

Hey guys, I want to be able to do the soft of editing that this person has done

If you look at this video https://vimeo.com/159531077
you will see some of their video has a simliar effect that looks like photographys vsco

how would you do this to video in edius?
also it looks like there's shimmering light leaks over a lot of the shots, how would you do that?

Is there any way to do this in edius?
cheers

Start about 9 min. To see the effects.

You can take a look at these.

Oh WOW both of these options look incredible!

Has anyone used both and have a preference??

Jerry 06-18-2016 01:22 AM

I have both. I have the earlier versions from Digital Juice that were on disc.
If you are going to utilize the product, the one time $500 fee would be worth it.
I don't know if there are any 4k products.

When Rampant Design comes out with new products they allow you do download a few for free. That's what I have. They work fine on my system in both UHD and HD.

It depends on what you need and how you want it delivered.
Take a look at Hitfilm Ignite. I've seen pricing in the $149 range. You can create your own light effects.

This is the whole ball of wax. You get keying, color correcting, and in your case a whole series dealing with light and flares.
There are no presets. All effects are one off's.

I love the irony here. I've been working on a multi-month timelapse project and the big no no is light flicker due to significant lighting changes between frames. I've got specific deflickering software which does exactly the opposite of the software here that creates that effect. Again, I love the irony. Creativity is certainly a multi faceted endeavor.

Did you see the video I linked? I really like the way it's done and I think the light leaks give a really polished look.

This is my latest wedding video
https://youtu.be/C1VOSoPvOYk
and I feel like this sort of light leak effect would really improve it.

I also like how a lot of wedding videographers at the moment are color grading a lot, and I feel Edius lacks in this department..

There's not much Edius can't do.
Maybe look into HitFilm as it works natively in Edius.

If it were me, I'd worry less about the post process and make it better on the camera side.
To begin with, on-camera lights are a no-no at weddings now-a-days. (I love hyphens)

You don't need any lights for outdoor weddings in the day usually,
are you referring to the video I shared?? I love that guys work. never seen it before

I will look at that Edius one you mentioned..

I found these 100% free light leaks - and I emailed them to confirm if client use is fine and they said it is
https://www.rocketstock.com/free-aft...k-light-leaks/

but does edius have blend modes or something similar to what other editors have? or is transparency the only option?

Jerry 06-19-2016 09:56 AM

The 'lights" is a catgory in Hitfilm that allow you to create light leaks. That is what is in that video.

Have you tried the new Primary Color Corrector for grading? Plus, you can use Film Convert Pro and Hitfilm to color grade with LUT's as a starting point.
In most cases round tripping to Resolve isn't needed now.
