Boris RED in Edius in HDV
There is a problem with Boris when used as a filter as Boris does not see the correct field order in HD, seems OK in SD, so when an active filter or transition is implemented the result is a jittery clip where the field order is incorrect.
Tried reversing the field order of the clip before and after applying the filter / transition to no effect, Boris programmers report it is reading the clip as Progressive but so far no solution has been presented.
The solution is to set an IN and OUT point over the clip, SHIFT+Q to render the clip which appears in the track above and then change the field order of the rendered clip!
Usefullness of Boris in Edius is still great for any non active filters such as paint and clone to eliminate dust spec on the lens or power lines from a clip or colour change etc.
    Using Boris as stand alone.
For titles still and animated it is just great, the title can be exported with Transparent background in CanopusHQ HDV and brought into Edius and positioned etc, can still be manipulated using the Edius tools (3D pip (Not as good as Layout))
For manipulating stills, Pan / Zoom it leaves 3D PIP for dead as there is no loss of picture quality and if the 1:2:1 pulldown is used all edge flickering is eliminated and the clip can once again be exported in Canopus HQ HDV for placing directly on the Timeline.
CanopusHQ HDV files can be brought into Boris for compositing of titles, and or Bluescreen BUT the MAX length it will accept is around 20 secs so it is better to do this in Edius.
A great addition to Edius but there is some tidying up with the interface to be done by both GV and the Boris team for full functionality, pity as this is something Edius is a little short on.
    Regards Barry

        Boris RED Fixed

For those using Boris RED, download the latest version 4.3.1 and the incorrect field order has been fixed in HDV, great stuff.

I don't believe you will get realtime preview, however, since it is open GL driven one of the upper level Quadro cards will give you faster previews.

            Boris has always been slowwwwww.

The only product that I know is fast in rendering is Boris Blue.
