  • Vitascene 3 crashes E.9

    Hi .....

    Anyone else having this issue?

I open Vitascene 3 in E.9. I apply a vitascene video filter and exit back (using the plug-in icon)to E.9.

Video Filter is there and works fine in E.9. But if I want to go back into V.3 to check that filter's parameters, V.3 won't come back up with an applied filter. It crashes Edius.

In other words, Vitascene opens fine before a filter is applied to a clip, but won't open WHEN A CLIP IS ALREADY APPLIED. The only way I can check a video filter is to delete it and go back and just redo it. Annoying!

I don't know what to do about this. Is it a buffer issue? I'm set at 3GB.
    A settings issue??

    Thanks for any input.

Works here with the latest version of EDIUS 9. At least I have have not been able to reproduce this yet.
Can you tel me which filter you are using?

Also can you tell me if you are using 4k screen resolution?

        Thanks for input.

My issue of V.3 not coming up WITH an applied filter already selected does not effect ALL the filters. I tested the filters with a simple DV 19.6 project setting, render HQ fine........not 4K.

I tested different V.3 video filters (not all of them but the ones I use most)

The video filters that my editing system will NOT bring back up (to check parameters) include:
        1. tilt shift
        2. contrast look
        3. intense color
        4. star burst

The video filters that DO come back up once selected (but come up kind of slow) include:
        1. spotlight
        2. sparkle
        3. rays
        4. Glim
        5. Border

If you are interested, I also made two Edius system reports when E.9 crashed during the above process, and could send them to you. (My editing system is NEW, custom built in the last couple months.)

Steve wanted to know if your PC screen is a 4k screen? Because there are known issues with 4k screens and third party plugins when windows desktop scaling is not 100%

              Oh. Got it.

My screens are Acer G7 Series G247HYU 2K WQHD IPS 4ms LED backlight LCD.

I'm not that tech savvy. It never occurred to me that a monitor could cause my issue.
I looked up what Anton said ("when windows desktop scaling is not 100%"). Should I be checking my "desktop scaling"? What for?

PS: RE: V.3. There is no issue w/ transitions, and just some of the video filters. Is there a color or other setting I have wrong?

              Thanks for help.

check if your desktop scaling is 100%, if not, change it to 100% and test

WELL!!! It appears screen setting was the problem.

My dual monitors were set to 125%.

Changed them to 100% and tested. This setting change to the monitors appears to have fixed the issue.

Thanks so much. I never would have figured this out without your expertise. Made my day!

plugin makers have not caught up with Win10 desktop scaling

the same issue happens with Wavearts Master Restoration and even the built in Quicktime exporter

and the Quicktime exporter may never be fixed for users who use UHD monitors with 200 or 250% scaling, all the settings will become useless, try it

I believe, UHD monitors for a PC are a bad invention, I avoid them
