Neat Video & SLOG

Has anyone got a good workflow for neat video noise reduction with SLOG footage?
My problem: If I apply neat video to a clip & export to use in timeline, it becomes rec.709. It looses the SLOG color space and therefore looses adjustability on the timeline with PCC.
I haven't found a way to export and keep the SLOG2 color space, is there one?

Or- maybe there is a better way to work with neat video & SLOG?
Any advice?

What is the render format?
Try HQX.MXF or export to XAVC.

why are you doing it that way?? it would be easier to do all processes (noise reduction, colour grading etc) in PCC then export final clip.

and to be honest.. I don't think you can export to a log format from any nle program.

I was attempting to export NEAT efx first because NEAT recommends being the only efx filter on the clip.
Also, NEAT brings my system to its knees so I need to render or export to be able to play the timeline. Also, I like to apply noise reduce first and then apply PCC on the timeline so I can match them better as they play.
Apparently it's not possible to keep the SLOG color space on export, so looking for alternatives.

The suggestion to do noise & LUT & basic CC first on all clips & then export is probably the best alternative, although it goes against NEAT recommendation of being the only efx.
Also, if I need to tweak basic CC, I'd need to go back & re-export, or change the exported clip. I was looking for a more streamlined workflow, but this seems the best approach.

Do you need to actually export the file to another program or are just using it in EDIUS? If you are just in EDIUS add the neat video effect and "render and add to timeline" which will create a new clip with the Neat video backed in on the track about your clip. You can go to the properties of this clip and choose the colour space you want it to be and then add the PCC.

by doing that.. do u lose the s-log properties?

No, it will have the colour space of the render settings. What I am saying is that, as long as it is in EDIUS, you can change the clip colour space in the properties so that EDIUS sees it as the colour space you want.

Great suggestion. That works exactly as I want, i.e. I can do the noise reduction, render the clip, and continue on with normal workflow with editing and have realtime playback performance.

So then the question is what does Edius use when the final output is made, and, are those rendered clips permanent?

I suppose you could either use the rendered clips for final output, or go back and apply all efx to original clips for final output.

If use rendered clips for final output, this makes the render settings vital for best quality.

If keeping the rendered clips as the new "master clip," the manual states that to make the clips permanent, they must be moved to a different folder & brought into the bin (else they will be deleted when render files are deleted).

Anyone have suggestion/preference on which workflow better/easier?
