  • TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 6

Upgraded to a new computer with Windows 10 a few days ago.
Went to use TMPG VMW6 to make an .avi using the Grass valley HQ codec. On "Encode", TMPG started counting.... nothing else happened. Had to use Task Manager to close it.
The same file on my older computer, Windows 7. The same version of TMPG VMW6. same HQ codec chosen. The encoding went through as usual.
Has anyone seen this before, or have any suggestions?
    Regards
    Douglas
PS. This is the full TMPGEnc not the plugin for EDIUS.

Did you load Quick Time into the new system?
Previous versions require QT to run.
The new system looks pretty good. Hopefully, you are going to overclock it a bit.

      Nope, Jerry.
I had installed the same QT version as I had on the Win7 system. No go.
I have written to Pegasys support to see if they have any ideas.

I have never overclocked anything before. After I have everything running smoothly I may give it a go. But for now I will be a canny Scot.

I have had this previously trying to make HQ Movs in TMPEG. I assume you are on the latest version of TMPEG? Also what is the input into TMPEG?

          Hello David,
Same version of TMPGenc VMW6 on both computers.
Using copies of the same media files on both computers.
On Windows 7 all works well.
On Windows 10 it just freezes.
Other codecs are working on Windows 10 when outputting from VMW6, just not the GV ones.

Pegasys have suggested a few possible solutions. None have helped.

Are any users here using TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works6 on Windows 10 with EDIUS WG 9 installed.
Can you encode a file to a GV HQ or HQX avi file?
          Regards

            Hi Douglas
Tried on both my main system (EDIUS 9) and laptop (EDIUS 8.53) both with Win 10 Home and no problems outputting to HQ or HQX

              Thank you Barry
I need to continue looking at what is different on my Windows 10 PC compared to my Win 7 one - apart from the OS.

Thank you all for the suggestions and information.
I have just found the problem and fixed it about an hour ago.

Here is the solution, for my case, for the record.

I had installed a Logicool Web Camera, with the latest drivers while setting up my new Windows 10.
It seems that the video codec for the camera, lvcod64.dll, conflicts in some way with the Grass Valley codecs and prevents them from working in TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works.
I uninstalled the camera software and then went into C:/Windows/Win32 and looked for the Logicool codec (which was not uninstalled), changed the name to xxlvcod64.dll
After a restart TMPGEnc VMW6 can once again use the Grass Valley codecs when creating .avi files.

The probable reason that my other PC could do the avi encoding is that I do not have any Logicool camera on it.
                Regards
