  • TMPGENC Authoring 5 / Add new page

In TAW5, the menu has one page with 2 links for 2 videos. OK.
I want to add a 2nd page to display infos on films (crédits, ...).

I don't see how to add a text in page1 with link to page 2 and how to create the page2.

Not sure I full understand what you have in mind, but one could always put the credits into a separate video and add it as a separate track.

        Thank a lot Anton.
        It works very fine.
Before this action , I had to tick the good option in Blu-Ray global menu settings : item display : "Display Note page item".
It installs on page1 a link through .png. I'll change it.
I would like a link rather by Text, if possible ...

In a previous BD Authoring, I managed a page2 to display infos (not by note) , but I don't remember how I did it.

you need to select a text based menu style in custom menu section instead of button based

I always use text based menus

also note that TAW5 was not designed with common sense logic. I find that I need to stand on my head when using it and work and think back to front and inside out

DVD-Lab Pro is a classic example of how an authoring software should work

An excellent observation and description of TAW - but with a bit of practice it soon becomes second nature.

I used to use DVDLab and I agree with you, however Blu-Ray was never on the cards for DVDLab. Many years ago I asked DVDLab if they would be releasing a Blu-Ray version. They told me honestly, "No" and even suggested I look at TMPGEnc's offering as an alternative.

I know the maker of DVD-Lab and he said that Blu-ray take up will die sooner rather than later and he is right

I possibly do 2 Blu-ray jobs per year, the rest insist on DVD or web

Anton, to keep things in perspective.
I asked DVDLab back in 2004 if they would support Blu-Ray.
                They told me , "No"
Personally I think that 11 years of life, so far, is not "sooner than later"
Maybe they were counting on Toshiba's HDVD winning the battle that took place in the USA. Did the same battle take place in Australia?
With the coming breed of 4K Bluray discs, burners and player/recorders on the way I do not think that the end of BluRay is in sight yet.

I am pretty sure that TMPGEnc will have support for the new BluRay formats in future upgrades (Mind you - "Pretty sure" for me doesn't always come true )

2004 was a long time ago and at that time Oscar was not really that sure about Blu-ray, he could have changed his mind in later years if he saw a demand worth while

I give you an example of Australian retail:

you can buy Hollywood movie releases on Blu-ray for $35 or DVD for $25

95% of the sales are DVD

personally, I make plenty of Blu-ray for my personal use, but only about 2 or 3 a year from paying customers

I think we are almost in the same boat there, Anton.

In Japan in general, however, blu-ray probably has a much wider spread than in most other countries.
I have yet to hear of any of my students or friends who does not have at least one blu-ray player at home.

PS. I have a great respect for the DVDLab team for their honestly all those years ago when they actually advised me to get TMPGEnc Authoring Works - a rival!
You won't get much of that sort of advice nowadays.

btw, Oscar originates from Romania but he lived many years in Austria and went to the same technical college as I did in Linz (upper Austria) however I did not know him at that time

Austria is a nice country (I crossed it 2 weeks ago).
For the BD use, in France, it's the same story.
But some customers want only Blu-Ray (in a few quantity).
For the BD material, I order Panasonic spindle packs in Japan. Very high quality.

To return to TAW5, a guy said me it's possible to create an authoring for BD and from it generate a DVD authoring directly.
But he doesn't remember how to do.
This log has many secrets well hidden.

You are looking for "Open with Conversion"
But remember that the total number of chapters allowed on a BD is higher than the number allowed on a DVD. So if your original BD has too many chapters they will not convert easily/correctly to a DVD.
