  • Quicktime (Win7) Plays HQX with 16-bit audio, but not 24-bit?

Quicktime player doesn't recognize the audio portion of an HQX if the audio's been encoded at 24-bit. But with 16-bit, no problem.

Digging a little deeper, Quicktime Player's "Show Movie Properties" panel reveals that the 24-bit audio track doesn't even exist, so far as the player is concerned.

Is that just how it is? Or am I possibly doing something wrong?

The reason I'm asking: I'm using a 3rd-party app that uses the Quicktime libraries (I guess) to play HQX files. Unfortunately, I've got a LOT of old material that I stupidly encoded at 24-bit, and that therefore won't work unless modified.

Any insights, or do I need to just go 'fix' all those old files? Thanks.
