  • VT track locking

Maybe I'm missing something here, may be its me but why oh why Does VT need TWO saving options, 1 My title.vtlayout and the numericdatetime-0000.vtlayout etc etcbloodyetc. Worse when you save My title.vtlayout the wrong way and it then puts the numeric version on the timeline so annoying...BUT there is worse. I have a title that is 6 seconds long it has a 1sec light sweep at 3 seconds. I now decide it needs to be on for 9 seconds. with vt opened, I lock the lightsweep track and stretch the text to 9 seconds yet the lightsweep still moves and stretches too- it's locked leave it alone.
Am I doing something wrong or is VT disobedient or stupid?

    Dave,
How are you saving from within Visitle? Most of the time I just click Ctrl+S and it returns to Edius with just the number.
If you wish to name it, this is how I do it:
    Dave's Title.mp4

As far as the locking mechanism goes, it is so that you can't accidentally change it. Lock the effect and 3d transform tracks. Now try to drag just the end of the effect. You can't. When you drag the end of the clip you are extending it manually and Vistitle moves everything proportionally.
I know what you want to do, but that isn't how it works. You have to move the effect back to the original position manually.

      Hi Jerry
yes that the way I do it and often use CTRL S or save as for alternative versions - its the auto Save button that Ps me off. I like names not numbers. I will try to recreate what I prompted the post I thought it was just clicking on the X to get out and dump the changes.

As for the locked tracks- they should be just that, or at least an option to double lock...whinge groan!
      Thanks

      David

I have mentioned this to Videostar previously. The next time I talk to VX, I'll mention this and link to this thread.
        No promises.

Thanks, would suggest either disable/lock as separate options or Lock = Lock (stock and barrel)

            1) Your means you want to save as your title with custom names by yourself, right ? sorry for that, i think we should provide a button or option to let customer to select which save is suitable for him.

            2) You could try to drag the end of clip with SHIFT pressed, it only extend the clip's length and keep all effect is not changed.

              Thank You VX
Holding the SHIFT key works perfectly - so simple.
Saving options in preferences, would be good.
              i.e.
x Always Save as "User name"
x Always Save to Edius Bin

This also works on animated titles' keyframes. Once you press shift+drag all keyframes remain in the original positions.
