  • Mercalli V4

I see ProDAD has released the Mercalli 4.0 plug-in for Edius. Includes CMOS correction.

    Yes
But be aware if you are using 50p footage in a 25i project it will not work
Requires project and footage to be the same, gives a warning "Unsupported state - Mixtures frame rates are not supported"

The latest Version works with mixed Frames-rate.
The update 4.0.456 is available by the "Check-Update" button from About-dialog.

        Hi everyone,

If you have purchased Mercalli 4 please download the latest update.

Follow these steps if you have the latest.
        Steps:
        Uninstall Mercalli 4.
Go to the plugin folder :
        C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS 7\PlugIn
check if these are still present:
        proDADMercalli4.tpi
        proDADCmosFixr.tpi

If they are, please delete them

Install the new package and check after installation in EDIUS that it is:
        4.0.457.1

Now try Mecalli 4 in a mixed framerate timeline and see if it work with clips which are different from you project settings.
Please report your findings in this thread.
        Thanks,

          Hi Steve
Yes that worked for Mercalli but not for the CMOS Fixer
CMOS Fixer refuses to work, just keeps showing the "Move 3 frames" or "Move 4 frames" depending on the project setting and does not engage, no change to clip
Match the project and all OK
          Regards Barry
          WORKAROUND
          Select "In/Out" for clip
Shift+Q for a new clip and then apply the CMOS Fixer to the new clip
Bit of a nuisance but it works
          Barry

Does anyone know if this new version is much better than what came with Edius 7.0.

Yes if that was version 2, I have had them all, so did not know a version of Mercalli came with 7, great for difficult footage that the Edius stabilizer has problems with, Edius does most really well
It also has CMOS fixer (Extra cost) that makes jello video look more realistic
Have been using it on some troublesome footage and it seems to work better, takes more resources
Has correction for Action Cams like GOPRO but have not tried in earnest with this part yet
Why not try the trial and see for yourself
Version 461 (Latest) seems to have fixed the mixed frame rate footage problem with both

Should there be a (64-bit) version of mercalli with Edius 7?
                  Work: Edius 7.20.437 on HP Z220 workstation; Edius 6.08 on i7 running Win 7 64 bit 6 GB RAM. Neo 2.0 on a Lenovo T61. JVC GY-HD201 and GY-HD110.
Home: Canon HV20 and Panasonic GH1 (hacked); Neo 3.01 on HP elitebook 8440p i7 and Neo 1 on homemade dualcore desktop.

                    Yes there is!
                    EDIUS 7 or 8 requires 64bit plugins.

Edius 6 came with an LE version of Mercalli 2, to get the version for 6.5 or for 7 it was a paid upgrade
