  • Edius with plural eyes

    I am a bit confused....
Now that Edius 7 can read the plural eyes files, what is the work flow like. I know that the new plural eyes 3, I believe, does not open inside of Edius.

Thanks in advance for any help...

      Nope.

I know they said that (Edius 7? last release) now reads the plural eyes files but...I do not understand how you integrate it with Edius 7?.

The people at Red Giant have no clue.

I looked through the forums and internet. Cant find an answer.

I called Edius tech support and was given a tech ticket.

I received an tech ticket answer from Jeremiah (in Edius Tech support) to check the forums.

Honestly a complete catch 22 (crappy response) that I never received from Grass Valley (now Belden) before.

Can you believe this answer from tech support?

          Dear Dano,

If you are having trouble with 3rd party software (Plural Eyes), we are unfortunately unable to assist you. We do not sell this software and have no knowledge of it's use and in fact do not have the software to test with. Thus, problems with Workflow or use of this software need to be directed to the company that manufactures it. Alternatively, our forums may be a resource to ask other Editors that also use Plural Eyes if the software manufacturer is unable to assist.

If Edius is malfunctioning in some way ,the first thing we would ask is to remove the 3rd party software to verify if Edius still has a problem after. Thus if not, issues would return to the 3rd party software manufacturer.

Please clearly describe the problem within Edius that you are having that does not involve Plural Eyes and we would be happy to investigate.

          Thank you,

Jeremiah W | Grass Valley, A Belden Brand | Technician

All I want is a simple answer on how the new edius 7 reads/uses the work flow of its new ability to read plural eyes files...that we were told it has the ability to do so.

I THINK THE SHIP IS SINKING,

          Dano

When we release the version of EDIUS which supports the import of the FCPxml from Plural Eyes we will show how to correctly import.
To be perfectly clear there is no plug-in you will have to use the import of FCPxml function of EDIUS which supports the import of the FCPxml from plural Eyes. That version is not released yet.......

I know many Edius users (myself included) are waiting for 7.4 so we can use Plural Eyes. I'm looking forward to learning how to correctly import.
                  Cheers.

We will be releasing EDIUS version 7.4 as planned, later today (morning, US PST), but I regret to report that the PluralEyes workflow is still not where we would like it to be. The FCP XML import does work in certain workflows – and you are welcome to try it – but we are stopping short of calling this a ‘new feature’.

The better news is that we are developing a very good working relationship with Red Giant and we will continue to work together to improve the integration. You can help us to do this by providing constructive feedback in this thread, which both parties will be monitoring.

Steve, that's indeed good news! And I appreciate it very much that you inform the community even before someone is asking.

For those who are able to test the workflow: anything that should be tried out specifically?

We're interested in what the asset is (codec + wrapper), the frame-rate and the camcorder/DSLR used. Also, if you are using external audio, what kind of recorder and whether the timecode is jammed or not.

If there is an error message, report it in the post and attach the XML as a zip file. Maybe also include the PluralEyes project. That should help.
