I have never used it in Edius 6.5 but wavearts track plug works fine in 6 and 7.

Izotope Ozone 5 Maximiser has a preset for TV levels, you can use up to -3dB for on line files.

It doesn't sound "pumpy" (loud to quiet) and its nice and clean and undistorted.

The max output (limiter) level is set by the right hand fader in the dialogue window and the left hand slider the drive level into the compressor.

MDA dynamics is quite good although I use that one more on a music bed at - 27dB to keep the music bed constant level so it doesn't intrude on dialogue.

There is Voxengo Elephant and Deft Compressor as well as T-Sledge but only any good if 64Bit compatible ones if you move to Edius 7.

A trick I discovered was to get the audio balance roughly correct in a sequence, create a master sequence and drop in the sequence you have just been working on and add the compressor to there rather than to the individual tracks and it is similar then to the Adobe timeline Master Track. That tends to get rid of those little problems like a loud sound effect over the start of some music going into the red whilst they are both mixing over (additative mix).

You should then watch the output on the loudness meter built in to Edius if for Broadcast as your final quality control.
