Audio Out of Sync with AW 4

At 1:15 the difference between 29.97 and 30 FPS is 135 frames, or 4.4 seconds. Not exactly 6 seconds but...

I wonder if AW4 might be treating the video stream as 30 rather than 29.97?

TAW4 does not alter the source files if you tell it to like I always do and as long as they are compliant, they will not be altered

I assume you want to make a 1280x720 Blu-ray?

I have not tried an Edius burn as I am trying to get this job out the door.

The project is 59.94. I will post a screenshot of the project settings tomorrow.

The problem seems to be centered around the mpeg-2 elementary stream output as HQX files keep sync as well as the program stream Mpeg-2 output.

Crazy. The video files were as much as six seconds shorter when input into Encore and AW4. This was a sequence clip that had the in and out setup, so no chance of audio being knocked out of alignment prior to encoding.

I have been using T5 for a long time but after a little test, noticed the Edius encoder just looked better. So I decided to use Edius to encode my Blu-ray for this project.

I have never experienced sync issues out of TAW5 or TAW4 and I feed it elementary streams (m2v + ac3) exported from EDIUS

I and O is always marked prior to export

1 If you create a Bluray from EDIUS is the audio in sync?
2 What is the exact framerate 59.94p or 60 p
3 If 60P what is your setting in application file export?
4 What are your exact project settings?

Update:

Program stream works fine. Elementary stream is not in sync. I do not know why but at least it is working.

Update:

I made a BD using AC-3 audio encoded from Edius and the video and audio still are out of sync.!!?

So, if I put the original Mpeg-2 file and audio file I made the disc from on a timeline in Edius the audio is in sync.

If I put the finished BD in my drive and add those files on the timeline the audio is OUT of sync.

So why is AW4 mis-reading the Edius files?

I will try a disc using Encore to see if this happens again.

Any setting? Stumped. Thanks for your help.

I am doing that now. To me ears, the audio sounded better from the Pegasys AC3 encoding compared to Edius. Not hugely better though. So Edius is being used now.

Ths might be a stupid question, but why not let Edius encode the audio to AC3?

I have a lot of work to get out this time of year, so I already deleted the file for safety sake :( So I can't check inside AW4 to see if the issue was in the playback window. I noticed the problem upon previewing the disc.

I usually encode with T5 but after testing Edius has more true color and gamma. So I output from Edius with PCM audio. AW4 did the Dolby.

This is a 720p60 file and I only have AW4.

I think it was drift because the original file inside Edius had proper audio, so the file had to start in sync. Just wanted to bring this up. I do not have a lot of time to test but will when I get the chance. I will also document the gamma/color shift I am seeing with T5 compared to Edius as well.

Gosh, will it ever be easy?

How much drift (e.g., in frames per hour)? Is it a 30 vs 29.97 thing?

Is the drift only on the BD disc, or is it in the simulation within AW4 as well?

The AW4 source file player?

Have you tried AW5 to see if might be Aw4 specific?

FWIW: The only time I have encountered significant audio drift is when the audio and video ran to different "clocks" such as when audio was from an analog tape playback. Some camcorders had an issue back 10-15 or so years ago with a few frames of drift per hour due to separate clocks for audio and video.

I exported an Mpeg-2 for Blu-ray from Edius with PCM audio. I then imported into AW 4 and let it do the Dolby AC-3 conversion. My Blu-ray has massive audio drift by the end of the hour and 15 minute program.

I have never seen this before. Any idea what would cause this behavior? I have "closed GOP" marked upon export in Edius.?
