Sorry for being so effusive!
I have deleted my so called "workaround" from my previous post.
The way I have described did NOT work as expected!
Even if I flag a sequence to progressiv inside of an interlaced project,
the effects will be still applied interlaced.

My fault was to not set the preview to 'both fields'!

Claire, Yes; I tried your workaround and it worked but one shouldn't have to do that.

I am having trouble producing a Blu-ray disc from the m2ts file produced, it has been stated here that Edius disc burner will do that but it does not, requesting an image file. I am doing something wrong obviously or need an extra stage in the process, any help would be appreciated.

Don't use the one in the tools menu, see page 439 of the manual for "Burn to Disc". To add the file from the plug-in click the movie tab and press the 'Add File' button to browse to it. Use the delete button to remove any already existing timeline or sequence. Edius doesn't like my early Pioneer drive so have to burn folders and use ImgBurn to write a BD.

Have NOT yet been able to make a workable disc with a file from the plugin, still trying.

Since EDIUS has Lanzcos downscale you could feed the encoder a scaled stream. :)

most my downscales for the web go from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 and EDIUS can't do that without creating major disturbance which is visible on the external monitor and on the waveform, it is some sort of a grid that looks like bars in jail

it does not happen when switching EDIUS from 1920x1080 to SD such as 720x576

Thanks for that Claire, I have never used the "Add File" function so was completely oblivious to it.
Blu-ray burnt, even with menu and plays perfectly. Time to create .m2ts file 35 minutes without Spurs engine, 10 minutes using Firecoder Blu. 2 minutes to write disc. Test sequence length 15 minutes. Long live FCB!

This grid is on your source also- you can see it. Its just 'smaller' because resolution is high.
You loose it in PAL because you downscale by large amount.
Do you see anything in the actual picture?
Is it the same for every source?

that is what I already said, I can see it in the actual picture, so I avoid 1280x720 in EDIUS

I think that More4k means it is already in the source!
The waveform has tendencies to show a grid already in the source resolution.

Cannot get files made with the plug-in to pass through Disc Burner without it halting.

"An error occurred while creating the disc image file".

Heck, I'm not even trying to write to disc yet, just want to make the image file in the folders.

I am getting fed up with this plug-in, about to give up on it.

Yes, I used a BD template and others as well.

I am wondering if the problem is a mix of two problems, not too confident Disc Burner is working properly and/or the files from the plug-in are not quite correct.

By accident I found that if I make a 24p file with the preset and if I also change the menu frame rate in Disc Burner from auto to 24p 1920x1080 I can successfully write a 24p disc but not if I leave it on auto (this is on Disc Burner's "Style" tab).

The odd thing here is that I can't see any other frame rate for the menu in this drop down box than 24p... even when I'm using Disc burner in a 50i project. Am I alone in this, should there not be 25fps and 29.97 showing as well as 24P?

It gets more weird, I can build a working folder of a 50i disc image with Disc Burner IF and only IF I change the menu frame rate from auto to 24p... crazy.

why would you use the Tmpg encoded footage as a source for disk burner? the disk burner will re-encode it again, in other words you waste time

or are you making a complete BDMV folder structure and only using the disk burner to burn?

Well, the plug-in makes the avc files which if it worked Disc Burner could author them into a simple menu Blu-ray disc. It does not attempt to recode them.

I am unaware of the fact that disk burner can compile without re-encoding

I believe it only encodes timelines and sequences and seemingly not when you use the Add File button (movie tab), which makes sense since it looks for files such as mpeg and vob.

I exported a Blu-ray compliant m2ts using the built in EDIUS exporter and loaded it as a file in Disk Burner

there was no option to tell the Disk burner not to re-encode, but it did not re-encode

so your assumption was correct

I did not use menus, so maybe that's why it worked for me.

Correct, I have done many tests and found that it's when a menu is added in Disc Burner that things go wrong.

The plug-in's std template "Blue-ray (BDMV, PAL) - H.264/avc" when used to export an Edius 50i timeline is flawed. In addition to producing incorrect colours it also has motion stutter problems unless written to disc from Disc Burner without a menu.

Exception is with a 24p project where if I manually change the menu frame rate in Disc Burner from auto to 24p motion is then fine but of course still has incorrect colors.

In my many attempts with 25fps I have continuously inspected the m2ts files in Disc Burners output folders and sometimes found that while the movie file is correct at 25fps, the menu file is only 24 despite being on auto! I feel sure this is to do with the menu frame rate selector in Disc Burner only having two options, either auto or 24.

What I would like to know, since I cannot select 25, is the auto working when files are added rather than just letting Edius export mpeg from the timeline?
