  • Newest PRODAD Plugins for EDIUS 7.x disappointing

The newest PRODAD Plugins for EDIUS 7.x are:

    - Vitascene 2.0.219
    - Mercalli 2.0.112.2
    - Heroglyph 4.0.219.1

Because my HW supports now the capturing of 10bit footage I planned to work with HQX codec and 10bit in future.

But all PRODAD components do not support 10bit colour and some do not support alpha channel.
    That's disappointing.

The update is mostly fixes for Win 8 compatibility. They have always been 8 bit effects.

Is there still a need for Mercalli with E7?

there is no need, because EDIUS 7 has an native stabilizer, working on background, offers 10 bit.
Mercalli2 is more flexible .... depending on the footage.
        I'm using both.

It doesn't hurt to have both. There are somethings that Mercali does better and there sre somethings the native stabilizer does better.
