  • Edius 7 and PluralEyes

Can anyone say definitively if there will be a working version of PluralEyes for Edius version 7? For me, it's a critical piece of software that I use in 6.5 on a regular basis.

I have tried the standalone PluralEyes version 3 with export to Edius but it's both a pain and seems to not work well with Edius 7.
    Thanks.

You should direct that question to Red Giant. They are the only ones that can answer that.

Will do. It would be a real shame if they didn't as that would negate my ability to use Version 7.

I have been in touch with Red Giant about this and was told

"Unfortunately we do not have plans on having an Edius option for PluralEyes 3. I would be happy to write a compatibility request on your behalf for this host application. We do offer PluralEyes 3 as a standalone application, so you can export your synced footage to your desired host applciation. Here is some further information:
Get access to all our filmmaking and motion graphics tools with Red Giant Subscription. Get started with Trapcode, Magic Bullet, VFX, Universe and Pluraleyes.

Thank you so much for your understanding. If you have some technical questions, I would be happy to have our support team contact you.

So may be it will happen if enough people request it.

I put in a request to Plural Eyes, but have thought more about this. I agree that individual customers should notify Red Giant, but I think that Grass Valley should also actively pursue this with them. It is (to me at least) a key selling point for any NLE that I buy (upgrade).

Not much we can do. I am sure RG is basing their decision on how many people actually bought the first 2 versions that use EDIUS.

OK. Would be great if GV develops something that can sync within Edius that doesn't rely on timecode/in-out points!

You could see the 3D developmentment in Edius, almost no one requested for it, we still got it, everyone payed for it.

stabalizing was great with Mercalli, now with native stabalizing (great back ground process, love it) we all have it, we all payed for it.

Point I'm making, when not making it a plugin but code it native, ever one has it, more people will use it, cost is payed by a large user group. Everybody happy.

Plural eyes is kinda great but for the users it's always a gamble to buy into external party which can pull the plug anytime, which they did.

Maybe GV should make a sync tool for their great multi track solution, similar to the stabalizer, it would be a great asset for Edius.

Great idea SoundFreak. 3D is pretty well used by only a very small minority, yet was given considerable development time and money. A synchronising plug-in (for want of a better word) would be used by many more people here than 3D ever was. It would be a great feature for Edius to compliment its excellent multi-cam feature.

The idea behind my thinking would be that, it's made in-house.
It should give great speed and ease of use while not damaging the stability of Edius, which happens often with third party plugins.

A famous big 'A' product has numerous thirdparty developers ported in their software which makes it a bigger hog than it is out of the box :)

Not saying that Edius needs to become a one stop tool shop, but why stop now, the last additions haven't slowed down or de-stabalized it in any way .........

From what I read on the forum, neither version of the plugin worked that well and was restricted to certain video formats. It worked for some and totally bit the big one for others.

Well for me being Dutch I normally say what I mean.
It's gotten me into trouble before on the forum (old days) so I tend to take the more subtle approach nowadays and living in the place I do I better stay of the radar :)

I have indeed tested both version and when I need it I sync manually, enough said.

I've used PluralEyes in 6.5 and it works great. In fact, faster than using PluralEyes in Premiere Pro.

My issue is that I often edit multi-camera shoots of live events without timecode and there are often multiple start-stops of each camera at different times. Syncing this manually would be a nightmare!
