Can't find much on the Rhozet website - it says Carbon plugs into Edius - does anyone know if it works with Edius 6.xxx as an export option, like Procoder used to?

    thanks a lot

    Happy Easter ya'llll

If memory serves me, Rhozet was in the same building as Canopus in California, with more than a little cross-pollination, and I believe Procoder was a lesser version of Carbon Coder.

I think Rhozet went away, when Canopus did.

I'm sure there are old Canopus employees that can correct me. Stand by to stand by....

Procoder didn't work with V6.0x and the plugin APIs changed again in V6.5x, so unless Carbon Coder was updated specifically for V6.5x, it would not work. Since it isn't in the compatible third-party product list I doubt Rhozet has worked on it.

Harmonic bought Rhozet. Carbon Coder has morphed into Promedia Carbon.

Here is a .pdf for more information.

              http://www.rhozet.com/Carbon_UserGuide.pdf

This .pdf was written in 2012. Edius 6.x was out and 6.5 was on it's way.
              Promedia Carbon.png

I think it is used more in stand alone render and playout servers.

I think the cost would be the major issue on this and not if it plugs into Edius. This is not Procoder, even if it resembles it.
If you want to give it a try, here is the link to request a trial package.

I believe that Plugs implies a Plug-in. Carbon is/was the parent application of ProCoder. (Procoder being the Canopus-branded variant.) I suspect the history of the business relationship is complex.

I called a few folks today and learned the price is too high for my use - $6,000 Did not pursue any further to see if this is a plugin or not.
