  • Best Audio Noise Reduction after the defunct Izotope Audio Restore?

    Hi guys,
I'm getting my new Edius 6.53 system totally functional, and the only missing pieces are the now-defunct Izotope plugins. I was especially fond of their Audio Restore--it saved me from looping dialogue in many occasions. What is your feelings about a good replacement plugin? I liked the automatic/learning function of the Izotope and it made clean audio a snap. I understand Redunoise won't work with 64 bits systems, and have seen Izotope RX-2 and also Mr. Noise from WaveArts. Any suggestions? Ideally something that works more or less in real time with no audio offset needed, but if I have to adjust audio sync, I have to. The vast bulk of what I shoot is multicam lectures, concerts, shows, interviews, etc. that occasionally have loud ambient air conditioning hums, traffic roar, and things like that.

Thanks for you comments! I SINCERELY appreciate it!

    I would recommend Voxengo Redunoise.
Same functionality but better quality and very good price/performace ratio.

Unfortunately it produces latency, but this problem occurs with every VST Plugin as EDIUS don't offers VST latency compensation at the moment.

I made a short video showing the Redunoise workflow

Is there any compatability issues with Windows 7 64 bit? Their website states that it isn't certified for anything further than XP.

As EDIUS just accepts 32BIT VST Plugins at the moment, you have to use a 32Bit Plugin anyway, so there's no problem.

I guess what I'm asking is if Redunoise just plugs into Edius 6.5 with no need for jBridge or other workarounds for Windows 7 64 bit?

            Thanks....

Right, it plugs directly into EDIUS.
Just try it by yourself. You can download the demo version for free.

I use Izotope RX2, does not have the frame delay of redunoise and for me works well

Also RX2 produces audio latency within EDIUS (as every VST plugin).
When setting algorithm to "realtime" mode it's just relatively small for a denoiser plugin.
Nevertheless it's a very good denoiser with some more possibilities.
Just in a different price range.
