Without the plugin you just have to use what is called 'backtiming' in the radio world.Jerry

I used to have the plugin for Premiere way back but now just use Sonicfire Pro. Just get the time I need from the NLE, choose the music in Sonicfire and bring back in as a WAV file. If you want to time levels etc or effects you could just take the video into Sonicfire anyway.

I use an SD mpeg file, works better than HQ avi, Smart Sound expect lower field first with AVI

Yes I know I can export my video and do all my scoring in SFP. But I am forever finding opportunities to tweak and improve my base video.
PLEASE... Grass Valley and Smartsound come to some sort of agreement and build this plug-in. GrassValley wins because they will gain more customers. SmartSound wins because they will sell more music to those who are using Edius.
Is it just me or is this really a very logical decision???Andy Browne - Venice, Florida

Send Smartsound an email and ask for them to build a plugin, i have been asking for years as I use smartsound on every project that i do, The more people that that email them for the request might produce a result one day.

I will put it this way:
Smartsound really doesn't have any intention, or interest, in creating a plugin for Edius. You can continue to email and ask, but according to the Smartsound guys at NAB, it just ain't about to happen.
Smartsound is a small company. Employees do multiple jobs. Over the years of going to NAB and 'being seen' I am at least recognized. I was able to get, what I thought were very candid answers, since I have been a long time customer....since V 1 and 1.5...the early days.
I mentioned this point in another post about plugins and Edius users:
1. The number of Edius users is small.
2. The number of Edius users that use purchased plugins is small.
3. The number of Edius users who use Smartsound reduces that sample.
4. The number of Edius users who would ACTUALLY purchase the plugin is even smaller than that.
5. This may be a tough pill to swallow, but in general Edius users are basically frugal. That is the politically correct term for cheap.
When it comes time for plugins, Edius users want the item, post threads requesting items(perfect example is Neat Video), and when it is released, do not purchase the item.
The tech guys at the Smartsound booth pretty much told me the first three in the list it straight out. They added that the cost of engineering time vs the revenue generated for the plugin was not worth the effort to create the plugin.
You can keep sending your emails, but unless something happens, I wouldn't hold your breath for a plugin. Stand alone works just fine with a little backtiming experience.Jerry

I think the best way for this is that the people who really want the plug-in crowd fund the development.
This is more of a put your money where your mouth is approach but a great way to show the Smartsound guys that you guys are serious.
It will also be a doze of reality for anyone brave enough to organize this.......... :)Last edited by GrassValley_SL; 05-17-2013, 05:18 PM.
