  • What input for TMPG Autoring Works 5

Long ago I used Ulead MediaStudio plus Ulead DVD Workshop. A great combination. I replaced MediaStudio for Edius (and very happy with it) and now I am about to switch from DVD Workshop to TMPG Autoring Works 5 (want to make BD's as well). This looks like the right software for me. I tried Edius for making BD's, but it is very basic. I want a bit more options.

I think it was Anton who said you have to feed TMPG with Elementary Stream. Is that still valid for version 5 of TMPG?
    What bitrate?

    Thanks.

This is great for MPEG2 but why not use MPEG4/H264? I found the right combination, which I can post, that allows TMPeg to not force a re-encoding with H.264. From what I have read you can get same quality but much less consumed space.

I have bought TMPG Authoring Works 5. Nice program. I used Antons settings. The endresult is very good (that is: to me) Overall: very fast and good quality on my TV (40", full HD). I managed to make a BD without a manual.

This program has enough options for me. I can make the BD disk look like I want to or use the preprogrammed styles/layouts and I can make it act like I want to. I set some settings to : slow" of "somewhat slow" thinking that slow means "good or best quality".
On my system (i7, 8Gb, with an old burner, Plextor BS920SA, speed 2x) it took about 1 hour to make a BD with almost 25Gb data/movies. This disk contains 8 movies between 4 min and 22 min. 6 were inputted as Elementary Streams and two as "normal" MPEG (Program Stream). Biggest part of the proces was for burning (app. 3/4). If time was an issue I would buy a faster burner and faster disks.

I burn at 6x and I burn to 3 Pioneer BD burners at the same time (unless only one copy is needed)
