    Hi Jack,

just to show you how it actually looks when using SRT scripts with italic markups, see the attached screenshot!
The script is full of such markups! Quotes & proper nouns are marked italic!

This time Vistitle can't help me, because it's too much work to correct that manually!
Will use the good old AVISynth method! ;)

Hopefully you find a way to process these tags in future!

    Thank you

Thank you very much for these documents and information.

We will think about how to implement these features in future VisTitle version.

    Yeah, that would be great!
Otherwise I would have to process it by using AVIsynth again!

I know, EBU STL is one of the most extensive formats for professional subtitling. The ability to read EBU STL files would be great. We don't really need all of the tags, flags & informations for the usage in VisTitle environment!
The most important tags are text format & style related! Maybe text alignment & position informations can be utilized?

    another interesting format, XML based:

Both formats are mentioned in BBC guidelines!

Thank you for beeing always open minded!

It's because I got scripts with around 900 - 1200 spottings & I don't have the time to search vor non processed tags inside & change this later manually!

Btw, It would be great if VisTitle could process also EBU STL files.
It's a binary format with biunique text encoding informations which comes from subtitling facilities.

    Thank you for replying

Sadly the 'italic' markups/tags for single words inside the text lines will always be processed as normal text & also spotted!
A drawed spotting looks like this:

"sample line with an <i>italic</i> word"

This represents the script line 1:1 without processing the italic tags!

Actually a single word can't be set to italic style manually.
Can this be changed in future release?

    Thank you!
Yes, VisTitle only import SRT files as a text files, it ignore SRT all tags.

If you want to set some word to Italic or Bold, you have to select this line in SubTitle Editor, and then in right Edit View, double click the text object, enter into the editing mode, select that word, set its font propeties, then, apply this to select line only. Please try this to work around this issues.
