  • How Do I Stop New Blue Pop-Ups?

Every now and again when I open Edius, I get a pop-up window appear for New Blue FX as some sort of sales pitch for their products.

Does anyone know how to stop this happening?

I would love to know too! I'd expect it on Shareware but not paid for software! Very annoying!
    Cheers,
    Stuart.

      DITTO !!

(The artificial intelligence neural networks nano-bots have said I must type more characters than just "Ditto".... so now I have)
Main Editing System: Sinclair ZX81 0.75Mhz chip (Overclocked to 12Ghz), Liquid Nitrogen Cooled. 48k of RAM, Compact Cassette tape drive (9600 baud), 4" B&W monitor. No keyboard - all input by thought transfer from a colander on my head. Gives me 180 layers of 4k in real time (all with 3D PIP added) and can encode and burn a 2 hour Blu Ray in just under 12 seconds. Custom editing chair that floats on magnets 2 feet above the floor. I am also able to travel in time.

The best thing to do is contact New Blue and make your concerns known.

I have done this, waiting a reply.

I had hoped someone here had already had a solution.

I don't think it looks very professional when this pop-up appears.

I am still waiting for official confirmation, but I may have found a solution.

In the New Blue FX folder there is an application called Specials. If I open this, up comes this promo window.

Perhaps simply deleting this Specials application will stop the pop-up window from appearing when Edius starts?

Do you have cartooner installed. That is probably what
is triggering it. It is freeware from them so
I do expect popups every once in a while.
If it is the Edius essential package causing it,
                that definitely needs to change.
PM Marcus Johnson and let him know
                your concerns.

New Blue have told me that 'Cartoonr' is causing them. Remove Cartoonr and you should not get popups. (i'm yet to try it).
                    Cheers,
                    Stuart.

Hi guys. Are you seeing full-screen popups advertising our latest promotions? If so, then as has already been stated here, if you have our free Cartoonr plugin installed then it is probably the culprit. Cartoonr should only display this page when you use the effect (or open a project that has Cartoonr applied), and it should only display it once per editing session.

Also, if you are using any of our retail products in trial mode, then you might also see one of these advertisements.

The Edius 6 bundle (Video Essentials for Edius) and any activated copies of our retail products should not be displaying full screen ads. However, after you install one of our products, including the Edius 6 bundle, you might get a popup asking you to register the software. When you click on Register, all it asks for is your name and e-mail address. As soon as you enter those, it will stop asking you to register. This is just to keep track of who is using our software, but if any of you have any qualms about giving us your information, then you do not have to use your real e-mail address. The registration popup will still go away in that case.

I appreciate everyone's understanding of this case. If you are getting popup ads, and you do not have Cartoonr or any of our trial software installed, please let me know and I will look into the situation.

                        I do have Cartooner installed.

I have asked New Blue the consequences of deleting the "Specials" application which I think is activating the pop-up.

Well I have now had a reply from New Blue saying they don't know if deleting the "Specials" item will work.

                          Not a lot of help.

I have now removed that application from the folder. Everything seems to be working OK. Only time will tell if I have got rid of that annoying pop-up.
