I have a licensed copy of Edius Neo 2 - could it be that not having full Edius 5 is the problem???

Andrew - All I'm getting is black/blank video rendering out from vDub per your instructions - any ideas why?

Vitual Dub is only required if going from 1440 to 720 for DVD
Thanks Anton - you just saved me a world of frustration :)

    btw - Neo 2 does have a 720p preset

simply start a 1280x720p project in Edius and load the 1440x1080 file, set its field order to progressive, it will play fine with no artefacts

it could be that Neo does not have a 1280x720 preset? Edius5 does

Resizing to 1280x720p from 1440x1080i and applying deinterlacing in the process of the queue

Stumped using VirtualDub encoding to Canopus HQ

I've been trying to use the latest version of vDub 1.9.8 to batch resize clips using the Canopus HQ Fine setting. Can't seem to get it to work - vDub sees the codec, but it refuses to show video or play audio of any clips encoded in Canopus HQ codec.

I have no problems getting Cineform Neo Scene clips to work with it so it's got to be something specific with the Canopus Codec - and all versions of Canopus codecs show up in vDub.

All I get is black video frames.

    Any ideas why???
Working...
