I don't know if this has been talked about, but I see many people are frustrated about the workflow.
One solution is to get Raylight for Mac.
It allows your FCP editor to not convert to .mov from within FCP, but instead, edit off the MXF files right away.
What this means is that they can then hand you the original .mxf files to you and you can edit it in EDIUS (4 Broadcast, or 5).
What else can you do? Export out a .mxf file out of FCP and hand the final program to an EDIUS editor.
You can also export .mxf out of EDIUS and hand that to your FCP editor.
Now I have not really tried this, but hope this helps others who are looking for a solution. From the specs of the program, you can easily accomplish this. There is a demo on the website.
