  • Quick Time Files !!!

    Hi,
I've just purchased JVC's new GY-HM700 ProHD camcorder.
It records to SDHC discs using Quicktime MOV files.

Its aimed at Final Cut Pro users, but does list Edius as being compatible.
    I'm running Edius version 4.51c

My problem is that Edius wont import these MOV files.

I can still import older motion backgrounds which are MOV files, but not these new HD ones.

    Am I overlooking something?
Do I need to upgrade ?
Where am I going wrong ?

    Please help...thanks !

You need calibrated software decode. Then the moves work. This is a known for all pc systems.

Edius works with the files recorded in EX format.
But then you need the SXS recoder attached. The SXS is like an EX format dongle for the hm700

Also take note that if you use the calibrated software performance will drop a bit.

      not possible?

Or you take my brand new v2 freeware tool MP4toMPG (original for Sony EX1/EX3) to convert it to editable mpg file ;-)

      direct download: http://www.mik-digital.de/tool/MP4toMPG_v2.exe
(by the way, the language is german at the moment)

      1. choose the type "mov"
      2. choose the source folder button "BPAV wählen" (the folder of your JVC card)
      3. choose (recommend) "mp2" (320kbs for the audio, very compatible; "wav" needs much more time to convert and is only theoretical better quality, just try it; "wav/mp2" demux both streams and convert the audio to "wav")
      4. and then the choose target-folder button "Ziel wählen" (e.g. EDIUS project folder in combination with EDIUS watch folder)
      5. press "Ausführen"

video will not touch, so the recommend conversion is very fast.

      regards

          thanx 4 feedback

          Hello,

on the video side there is no loose of quality, because there is NO conversion. And so, its very fast. No need for multicore support.

audio should be converted to mp2 (mpeg1 layer2), because it's the best compatibility - see point 3 in my last message:
          <quote>

Please, feel free to test it and gave me a feedback, if you found an issues. I'm in this forum from time to time.

No one here would know. GV is very good about compatibility but there are so many flavors now it is hard to keep up. I would not hold my breath on any kind of mov files.
