  • Compatible HDMI Monitors for HDStorm/HDSpark

Please list which HDMI monitors you have tested with the HDSpark, HDStorm or HDThunder. Include the Make, model number, if you have tested it with HD and SD, which HDMI card you have, and if you are using NTSC or PAL. A web link might be nice.

Tested with HDSpark - NTSC - works with HD & SD

I think it's just as important to list monitors that do not work:

    Samsung LN22A330

Tested with HDSpark - NTSC - does not work with SD - works with HD

If possible could we leave questions off this thread and just make it a list of those that someone has tried and do work. Otherwise it will become enormous and difficult to filter through.
        Cheers,

I just placed the benq E2200 HDMI monitor on my edit desk, plugged it in and WOW! It works fantastically well in HDV 1440x1080i PAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you, progressive projects do not show up.....any help here?

          MODEL: BENQ E2200HD series 22"
          COST: $245
          PIXELS: 1920x1080

          WORKS: HDV 1440x1080 (and 1920x1080) 50i PAL 50 hz
SD 720x576 50i PAL 50 hz (but scales image to full screen)

AFTER EFFECTS: Awesome full preview, even scales qtr res down to qtr size within the screen (proof of 1:1 pixel mapping) I wish edius did the same for 4:3 and SD projects, but instead scales them up to full screen.

DOESN'T WORK: All the progressive formats

So for $245 AU, its awesome for HDV editing.

Hope this helps, I'm happy as :)
When I go out, I wear my EDIUS T-Shirt.

I rang DVC yesterday and I was told that the Viewsonic works in HD and SD.

Viewsonic VX2260wm 22" Widescreen True HD LCD Monitor

Don't have it myself so I cant say, but they sell the cards, build the systems and you would think they should know.

Agreed - please keep this thread for reports of known compatible monitor makes/models.

If you have a question, post in a separate thread. (And please use the search function!)

Bought a Sony Bravia 19" LCD TV. Model KDL-19L4000 as a preview monitor for my HD Spark and HD Storm cards.

Tried it with the HD Spark so far and all works fine with SD and HD. EXCELLENT picture quality, in both SD and HD.
Been reading on the threads that we should stick to 16:9. This screen is 16:10 and all is fine. It displays 16:9 with a very small border on top and bottom.
It is 1680x1050, 5.3 mega pixel and has a higher pixel/inch density than the 20" Sonys with 1366x768 resolutions.

Cost me £209 here in the UK. has 2 x HDMI slots and Component.

This is true although it works at HD PAL sizes and 16:9 SD. It does not work at 4:3 SD.

Our tests with the BenQ 2400HD give a very good picture at HD (1920 & 1440 @ 50hz) but it does not work at either 16:9 or 4:3 SD @ 50Hz but appears to work with 16:9 SD 60hz (NTSC).

SD support on lots of HDMI monitor has been really poor with the Storm and Spark. The same monitors that will not work with the Thompson cards will work with the Black Magic cards. I don't know why right now.

Just letting everyone know that this monitor works fine with HDSpark:

                              Dell S2209W (22") or S2409W (24").

It is a 1920x1080 native display with DVI in (You will need a HDMI-to-DVI cable, which is very cheap). It plays 1080/720/480 (although 4:3 is stretched to fit the screen). I went through 3 monitors and found this one to be a good one. There is no 1:1 pixel mapping, though. The HDSpark outputs 1920x1080 or 1280x720 so even your 1440x1080 HDV stuff will go out as 1920x1080. DVCPROHD 1280x1080 / 960x720 also works fine.
