  • Asus ROG 16 with SSD portable hd

This computer came with only one 500 GB SSD drive. I wanted/needed another drive to store files on and leave all programs on primary drive. I purchased the ScanDisk 1TB portable SSD with USB C. Prior to adding the new drive speed was not an issue. When I moved all the Edius and Mync storage files to portable drive the computer seems to be slower with some hickups.

Thoughts on how to improve speed and workflow.
    Thanks

Specs: ASUS ROG WUXGA 144hz gaming laptop. Intel Core i7 Processor 11th gen; memory 16GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX3050 Ti; 512 GB SSD

run a speedtest on the external SSD

you could have added a second Samsung 2TB or 1TB NVME SSD inside which would do over 2000MB/sec

Anton as always you know what you are talking about. After running the speeds I returned the external SSD and installed a 2TD Samsung SSD 870 QVO internal hard drive. Not as fast as you suggested but doubled what I had

The QVO is the lowest performer of Samsung, but the cheapest

Pro would be best followed by EVO

what is the E drive? an external spinning drive?
