  • How To increase Buffers

    Hi all,

    Home user here.
I would like to increase performance of my system (see signature).
I'm not interested on encoding speed but I would like to speed up editing process. On my system, with two or three 4K tracks with some CC on the timeline (no ext. plugins), my buffers go to zero (0/32) and I have to render.
Do I need more RAM or anything else?
Would I get improvements on Edius 10?

    Thank you in advance

in EDIUS X (10) you can lower preview resolution until it plays in realtime

you can always try to set say 2GB Ram to the buffer in system settings, playback, and then start playback with Shift+Space Bar

      Thanks Anton.
      much better now.
It's strange that despite I have 16 GB of RAM, even on relatively large projects it doesn't use more than 8 GB.

32GB of ram is the sweet spot for 4K projects.
This way you can increase your buffers considerably.
Higher buffers and the resolution dropdown will help playback
