Good idea Jerry, but I am very busy with edit work so may be up to 2 weeks time before I finish and test the new system and report back.

If you have a problem with Windows activation after fitting a new card it is still easily solvable using the Microsoft automatic activation phone line. It has happened to me several times, that a working Windows has become deactivated because I changed something major, and a phone call sorted it out quite easily.

I have been using Haswells for some time but always have a dedicated card. I have occasionally just run using the on board graphics and EDIUS seems to work fine, but I want the dedicated card because I use Vistitle, as well ad DaVinci, After Effects, Premiere and other programs that really use the card.

In EDIUS without plug-ins the only GPU driven effects are the 3D GPU transitions. Everything else is CPU.
      EDIUS silver certified trainer.

+1 to phone support - I've called in at really odd hours (2AM) and got quick service.

Thanks David and Brandon, your comments are very helpful. Will give it a try with just the iGPU and add a card later if needed for my work. I would not expect adding a GPU card should cause re-activation problems but if it does I will use MS phone contact as suggested.
