The processor and ram should be OK for most purposes, but the screen/monitor resolution strikes me as a bit limiting.

It depends on what you want to do.
I edit AVCHD+Sony EX1 combined footage on the road regularly on a Centrino Core2Duo from a travel USB2 drive. What a pleasure to get home to my main edit station.
I can't stress enough the importance of removing ALL the pre-installed junk that come with an off-the-shelf system. Even if it means installing windows from another box.
btw, 'Dark umber brown' makes a smokin' system! :~)
