  • Edius 5 Install on Vista Laptop Hangs

    Hi

I am still using Edius Pro3 in a stable desktop setup I've had for a few years now and I don't want to touch it.

Have just bought the upgrade to Edius 5 and tried installing it on my LG laptop running Vista just to see what the new software is like preparatory to building a new quick system.

The install goes fine as far as entering the new and old Edius version registration numbers etc. It tells me it is installing the files etc and then hangs on the green progess bar indicator a quarter way through the install. It is a year old LG laptop with 2Gb ram, but only 2.0Ghz core 2 duo processor.

The User Account Control is switched off.

Any ideas ... incompatible video card maybe ?

I've only just been in the process up upgrading to v5. Much the same thing seemed to happen to me. Having checked this forum for which of the options I should have checked to be installed it seems I was a bit over zealous in ticking everything –evidently the install recognizes what it should install according to your hardware. Thinking that I’d overdone things I abandoned the install. Having started again things seemed to be taking an age. However it became evident that there were some “confirmation to proceed” type massages popping up out of sight behind the install box and to cap that there was also a request to access the internet for some Canopus component.

Having responded to all these and after a required reboot, all came up OK. Even the small project I’d developed using the trial SW opened OK. I guess your experience was quite different?

Most of the consumer laptops come with a lot of preloaded garbage that you should uninstall before doing any editing.

Not Here, This is a custom built thing that I have installed 64bit Vista on, very very quick lap top, I think Edius 5 just doesn't like lap tops, version 4.61 ran fine on it, never mind though I am really not into lat tops for editing...

Steve I have EDIUS 5 on a lowly C2D 1.5Ghz machine with 2GB ram, just for testing purposes. Works fine. It is running Vista Home SP1, 32bit mind you.

Maybe something to do with the 64bit drivers for the laptop?
