  • Export photo-sequence + Photoshop + import TL

    As I can't get a good chroma key in a clip (2"-3 "), I do :
    - export about 68 stills (PSD format)
    - correct into Photoshop
    - import into the TL.

What in the best way to do that ?

    Hea Marc,
2"x3" should work adequately with 150 dpi. scans for SD projects. 300 dpi. for HD.
Most don't need to ChromaKey stills, so it seems a little unusual. To crop edges, use 3D Picture-in-Picture or Layout.
Be careful not to use images with large file size... I find 1-2 mb adequate.

In the Edius Application Settings make your Still Image Duration to your liking, then drag your images to the Timeline!

    Wait... Are these Timeline Exports?
If you're in Edius5, investigate the Freeze Frame option. Really easy to make stills and correct on the Timeline.

I may be missing the point on what you are trying to do...but ill hazard a guess anyhow.

If you mark in & out points over the area you want to export as still images you can then print to file as an image sequence.
Import one of these images into Photoshop...process your image & record the steps as an action...then batch process the rest of your images.
Re Import into Edius as an image sequence....done.

Please ignore if this is not what you are after.

Yes, I've done already that a few days ago
The original clip is in HDV (1440/1080 50i)
        I've exported to Photoshop in 1920 x 1080
        And re-import in the TL
        But 2 defaults :
        - the result is blurry : the picture is not as sharp as in the clip
        - play is not very smooth on the TL (after rendered)

Perharps, I do try different exports : odd /even/full frame ?
And also re-import with interlaced frames, but how ?

you need to export as 1440x1080 still, then fix whatever you need in PS and then reimport in 1440x1080

it is a known fact that if you set Edius to adjust aspect like you dis top create 1920x1080, the resulting re-import will look bad, soft....

Yes, Anton, it's a little sharper in 1440 x 1080 , but it remains like a veil of smoke.
