Still Edius 5 - Sanyo Xacti H.264 file import problem

I have purchased the Edius 5 upgrade and installed on one notebook running Windows XP.
Tried to import a full HD mp4 clip recorded on my Sanyo HD1000 camcorder to Edius, the clip was just recognized as audio file. (same problem that I already recognized earlier, with the trial version of Edius 5)
I had a look at the clip's properties, although the clip was decribed as mp4 movie file, it had just audio property window.
Tried to play the clip by the supplied QuickTime player, it showed just a green screen.
Then I downloaded the latest QuickTime player 7.5.5(249.13) and with this new version I succeeded to see the video.
Tried again to import to Edius 5 the same clip, no succes, again the clip was recognized as only audio file.
Then I recorded with the Sanyo Xacti camcorder a lower HD resolution (1280*720) clip which Edius was able to import as video clip.
Now it seems that there is a problem only with the full HD 1920*1080 60i mp4 (H.264 AVC) clips.

The same file - and all the other files shot by Sanyo Xacti in full HD mode - I can transcode by Procoder Expresss on my desktop PC, having Edius 4.64 and QuickTime 7.1.5

Can somebody help me to find the solution?

Yes, as I wrote it, on my desktop PC with Procoder Express istalled with Edius 4.64 I can convert flawlessly all H.264 files recorded with my Sanyo camcorder

As for MP4 file - I will try to download it and see whether I can simulate your problem here. I have some problems with your MEGAUPLOAD site right now - I am only downloading at 848 bytes/sec ... and it takes 6 hours ... terrible. Will try again some time later.

I downloaded your file in MEGAUPLOAD website. When I tried to preview the file - (using AVCHDPRV.exe from Canopus) - it says "Cannot Preview. Bad stream or unexpected packet.". It looks like the uploaded file is somehow corrupted.

Can you try to upload the file again? Thanks.

with download is all well (from europe).....22,7MB ... runs with 103KB/sec

not well with Edius 5.01 ....import to bin = only Audio ........and this said "g-spot"

I noticed you use 1920 x 1080 59.94i preset. That's for Canada / America.

I have no idea what Hungary is using ... but, I would think it could be PAL or SECAM standard? I think it is SECAM. If I am right, then you are using the WRONG Preset ...

You should be using 1920 x 1080 50i or 1920 x 1080 25p over 50i ...

Try it first - and let me know.

Good and bad news :-).

First the good news - I got your MP4 to play (the video, that is) on EDIUS 5.01. The bad news? The audio is gone :-(.

Here's how ...

a) Load your MP4 file into Quicktime Player (Pro version).
b) Save that MP4 as a MOV file.
c) Use that MOV file instead of MP4 ... at least you can see the video played in EDIUS 5.01.
d) Just be warned - my CPU is running at 24% when I played the MOV file - the moment I stop playing, it drops to 2%. And I am running dual Xeon quad core 3.2 Ghz processors.
e) To extract the audio ... that's another story :-(.

One more thing - I was using 1280 x 720 25p preset ... I don't think EDIUS care about the preset for input ...

Yes, I used for the trial in Edius 5 the 1920 x 1080 59.94i preset, because the camcorder records this type of mp4 file.
As I understood, the AVCHD converter supplied with Edius is intended to covert only the MTS and M2TS files to Canopus HQ AVI and not for mp4.

One of the announced new feature of Edius 5 is the ability to import Sanyo HD mp4 files which is true for the 1280 x 720 screen size, but it does not import the full HD size Sanyo mp4 file as Hans from Viena has also recognized.

In the meantime I downloaded from the Sanyo' European website the demo movie: http://www.sanyo.de/products/digital...%20HD1000&n1=1
(You need to click on downloads "demo movie")

This is also recognized by Edius 5 as only audio file, but Procoder Express supplied with Edius 4 can convert it to Canopus HQ.

I figured out a way to edit your MP4 file on EDIUS 5.01.

a) Drag the MOV to the "V" tag on the timeline.
b) Drag the MP4 file to the "A" tag on the timeline.

Now you get both Video and Audio :-).

I can also convert the MP4 file to Canopus AVI using TMPGenc 4 Xpress :-).

After converting the MP4 to Canopus AVI (HQ) - I was able to play it back on EDIUS 5.01 (this time, the video and audio works normally).

I am having similar problems with my Sanyo Xacti HD 2000 camcorder, which also records in this uncommon MPEG4 AVC/H.264 format. It's highest setting is full HD 1920x1080 60 fps progressive (there is no option for 25 or 50 fps, which would be better for the UK where I live). I have no problem importing the footage (video and audio) from the camera into Edius, but playback stutters in Edius (it plays perfectly in Quicktime though). I am trying to edit footage in a trial version of Edius Neo 2, but cannot find corresponding presets or customisable settings to match my recorded footage. Having read the above threads, would I be right in concluding there is no way of editing such footage and exporting the result to a file in exactly the same format and exactly the same quality, i.e. MPEG4 AVC/H.264, 60 fps, progressive? Transcoding does not appeal to me, because I want the finished edit to be of identical quality to the original and not at a lower resolution, or reduced frame rate, or to change from progressive to interpolated fields. I should be grateful if anyone can please tell me whether what I am trying to achieve in Edius is possible and, if so, how or, if not, what the best nearest solution would be? Thanks for any advice.
