  • Clip Search Questions: CASE sensitive, locate on timeline, etc...

    1) I noticed recently that searching for clips that contained certain keywords were not showing up in the results. I finally determined that the search is CASE SENSITIVE. Accck! So I'm wondering if there is a setting to disable case sensitivity somewhere? It's certainly not where you would expect it anyway (in the search box itself), but am hoping I'm just missing it somewhere in the Program Settings perhaps?

IF not, I'll try to be consistently case specific in my naming and comments in the future, but it's not always easy and doesn't get me out of a jam right now. Seems like a weird thing to have this enabled by default/permanently.

    2) Was a "locate clip in timeline" feature ever added? Perhaps in version 5? This would be an incredibly useful feature, especially when handling hundreds of clips and trying to ensure you have not repeated something, missing something, etc.

    1) No option to change the sensitivity, that I have seen

    2) Match frame, after mounting to the player window, is about your only solution at present - but it's a good feature request!

Thanks for the answers, Kenneally. On (1), that is kind of bizarre right? It's not just me is it?

On (2), yeah, I tried the Match frame feature but unfortunately (as I'm sure you know) you have to have the EXACT starting frame. That is rarely -- dare I say pretty much NEVER -- the case unfortunately. Unless I'm not understanding how to use the Match Frame feature.

Finally, assuming this was implemented, I also assume it would probably only show up in version 5. They're not doing any retro additions or bug fixes on 4.X any more correct?

      Take care,

Prior to V5, the search was case sensitive. And yes, it was bizzare, making search almost useless. But in V5, Search is much better. You can select whether to match case or not (as far as I recall) and it is now actually useful.
