  • Any info on Edius Neo?

Sorry to bother the TGV team from outside Japan again but there's a new product on the Japanese pages called Edius Neo which should be available in late July. From my understanding it is different from Edius 4.5. Furthermore, it seems that it is able to run on Vista:

Looking at the MSRP it may be something like a LE or SE version?

Thanks in advance for some inside info :)

It seems as if NEO is just a name change for Edius for Japan.
So instead of Edius Pro it's Edius Neo...in Japan...(maybe)

But the prices quoted there are very cheap so it may be a lite version.

Don't think it's Vista ready, it says:
"The hi-vision video compilation software which corresponds to Windows Vista Selling EDIUS Neo"

    Whatever that means ????

Click here to read that page in (broken) English.

From what I can tell , it seems as if NEO is just a name change for Edius.
Doubt it. There's plenty of Edius 4.5 info on the Japanese pages. The MSRP for the Neo is much lower, too. And why should they write something about Vista apart from being compatible?

EDIUS Neo is a 'lite' version of EDIUS Pro 4.5, with a lot of the add-on modules removed.

The removal of such add-ons (like Xplode), its lack of hardware support, and the new v4.5 engine's overlay system make it possible to run under Vista.

This product is intended mainly for OEM bundling and education markets.

Simply put, if you have EDIUS Pro or EDIUS Broadcast, you've already got a 'higher' product.

Will it be sold outside Japan?

Is Neo something what could satisfy LE2 customers?

              1. Yes, eventually. I'm not sure it will be a 'retail' item though

              2. Possibly, but only if as per #1, it is a 'retail' offering

So a LE2 replacement other than Neo is still in discussion?

No. LE2 is the end of the line. Any successor will be an EDIUS software product, be it EDIUS Neo or (more likely) EDIUS Pro.
