Edius is still freezing on me now adn then, but it may well be that I need to hone the settings to suit my pc and me. I don't know how to use it properly yet, as I was a premiere man for 8 years.

I don't think there is a need to return the board now, just practise and ask more questions,

    Thanks for the reply.

I am glad it is going better... if I can be of any help I would be happy to! :)

    Tuy,

It wasn't the fact that audio was not coming through the system, it just wasn't rpesent on the timeline.... I don't know why, I don't exactly know what I did to fix it, but now it does!!!!

I'll run memtest again, as I had run it and it didn't show anything up.

Graham, as Brandon suggested to try memory test. It happened to me couple weeks ago: system was crashed or hung up on certain conditions. After run the memtest, I found out 1 bit was bad. As for audio, did you connect audio ouputs from the NX card out instead of your sound card ?

First, I am very sorry you are going through this... there are few things more frustrating as getting this type of crap from a computer!

Second, just to let you know (I know it is not going to help much) EDIUS is about as stable as it gets and as you can see there is almost no posts about crashing problems so with that in mind... I would try another NX card.

It is quite possible that you got one that is off. I know after as much testing as you have done (when I built systems) I would try another piece of hardware.

This doesn't happen very often (getting a bad Canopus Card) but it does happen. So when you try a couple of other things (like what Brandon was suggesting) try another NX Card.

    Just a thought :)

Should have let her have a full price dress....

It's captured fine, it saves the project and restarts and all is fine...

But I'm back to no audio.

Audio was present when capturing, I can play back the file in wmp with audio, I'm off to try to make snese of the manual.

I don't see a waveform in the audio track and nothing in the audio mixer, changing the 1VA slider in the mixer to track from none which worked yesterday ahsn't today.

At least I'm happier just got to learn how Edius works now:)

OK I've got it..........next time the PC, new cards or the App plays up, I'll do nothing.

First, I'll go out and buy a dress before I do anything!

Good luck, it sounds like hell....know it too well. Sorry I have no advice for you, but thanks for yours on the dress solution.

Now we all need the same kind of wife who goes for the half price dress, not the full price one, that way we (men) will have more to spend here.

    Result all round...

Jo decided on a half price dress :)

PC has turned on this morning and Edius is now capturing a tape......

Fingers are still crossed, but it's looking good.

Life is more than just technology. I'm glad you're taking a break.

When you get back... did you run MemTest86 through a couple of passes on the machine?

I've had enough experience with systems now to know that a perfectly good set of RAM can run bad in a particular system. The faster things get, the more "magic" there's required. Compatibility between pieces of technology is unfortunately about a lot more than just "having the right pieces that fit together."

Unfortunately we're seeing that more often with people...
Hope you have a good party and didn't run into "people incompatibility" !!

Graham, one year ago I spent about three weeks with my wife looking for a wedding dress. Bottom line: I'd rather install 100 Pinnacle DV500 cards then having to go this through again ;)))

Aha, remembered how I did it last night.

Open audio mixer and change the bottom from none to track, I haveve audio.

PC is now turned off, I'm off out to buy a party dress for my wife, it's my Mom's 70th Birthday next week and we are having a big party....... everyone's happy... you lot can take a break from me, I'm not going to be staring intently at a pc monitor and Jo get's an expensive dress.

It'd better work when I get back :)

    Cheers you lot

and I've just changed the pcie frequency from auto to 100hz and edius opened fine, very quick and captured.
    :)))

I've seen this behaviour mostly with Asus boards where the bus frequency wasn't stable due to their AI gizmos. So I had to force every board to run with fixed frequencies. For months now Intel boards are used here. Stability rules.

    Zorro,
Yes they both sit in 1x slots.

and I've just changed the pcie frequency from auto to 100hz and edius opened fine, very quick and captured.

I had visual adn audio while capturing, I have visual on playback, but no sound again.

I dropped a music track in and that plays.

I must go, so I will look more later.

At least I'm going out in a better frame of mind......

    Anton,
The version that came with my nx express is 4.11.

The download trial I have says it is v4.03 in the read me file.

I'm going out now, so will try all of this later, ta.

Does the NX card sit in a 1x PCIex slot? If not check the Bios if you have a 1x setting for that specific slot. Try also to fix the PCIex frequency to 100MHz. You may also try eg 99MHz or 101MHz at your own risk!
