I am editing a SD project that produces 'jaggies' (is there a better term). The PRoject settings are: Output device OHCI SD NTSC and Output format is DV 59.94i, 4:3 48hz. Rendering format dv avi. When I watch the footage being captured on camera monitor it is clean but on the Preview window from computer you see the jaggies.

It was shot with a DVX 100 at 24p. The worst effect comes when panning.

Any thoughts on how to get rid of these.

    thanks

    ps

is it possible it has something to do with the MONITOR and refresh rate??

Jaggies are (is) the correct phraseology here, and yes, they're ugly!
What you're experiencing is Edius (poorly) slicing your progressive footage into interlaced.

If you shot 24p I'd go back and recapture 23.94p in a 24hz project.
You won't be able to simply switch your project settings from 59.94i to 23.94p. :~(

Thanks Rusty. I tried this and it helped. If I am shooting 24p either in SD of HD I should set up a 24 hz & 23.98 project?

        Yes!
It would be nice to be able to switch frame rates in the middle of a project, but it's not to be.

I thought I read that the dvx100 converted 24p footage to 29.97 and that editing in 29.97 was OK. Any thoughts?

Yes, it will convert to 29.97, however the DVX was one of the first 24p cameras out, preceding any NLE solution by several months and driving many software providers into the 24p market. Thus the need to edit in 29.97.
