I am having a problem I havent seen since Adobe 6.5. I just capture a whole HD wedding, apparently some of the clips may have gotten corrupt or not. When I open all the clips in the bin(thumbnail mode) and scroll down at a certain point Edius Vanishes! Just disapears!

Boy I dont mind saying im VERY disapointed I thought weve gotten better than this. All the HD weddings I captured (4) have clips in them that make Edius crash. Do I need to look out for every tape hit now? I have to go through and re-capture just to get these jobs done. Any suggestions?Randy

close Edius
open Windows explorer and sort captured files by size
delete all 0kb files, then Edius will no longer crash
for some reason, Edius sometimes captures 0kb files when a dropout occurs, I have not reported this yet because I thought it was a unique once off problem
and now I use XDCAM HD and I no longer have dropout issuesAnton Strauss

nope! didnt do it. I need to go back and recpture everything. The only thing I can think of now is Edius capture is so pickey that I cant let anything interupt it nor can I touch the computer at all while its capturing. everytime I stopped and started again it made a corrupt file everytime the tape ran out or something I got a corrupt file. This sucks. I now have wasted 2 days just trying to capture footage.Randy

Can you please tell us how you are capturing your footage? From what feeder deck/camera and what project settings are you using?
Can you try bringing the clips in one at a time into the timeline rather than all at once through the project window so you can work out which clip has the problem?
What version of Edius are you using?
Have you tried opening the clips with WMP?
I did have a similar problem some time ago, from what i can remember it had to do with me changing HD sizes... too many glasses of red ago, sorry.Comment

I am capturing via Firewire from my GY-HD100 into Edius 5. There are like a hundred clips in each project it would take forever to try and bring them in one at a time. I think I may see what I need to do now. it SEEMS to happen when I change tapes, sometimes not. so everytime I change tapes I now make a new folder to try and isolate the bad clips. Also I am making it a point not to have ANYTHING interupt the capture, The battery died on the camera a couple times before so I now have a power supply also I want to check the folder where the clips were going so I went to "my computer" while I was capturing that may have had a hand in it. We'll see after I redo everything I just didnt think it was so fragile.Randy
