  • Version 5 upgrade..why so hard?

Hi, I've been using 4 for over a year now and love it. I think it is one of the most amazing bits of editing software I have ever used.

So why have GV made it so bloody difficult for me to upgrade? Just about every other vendor allows me to sling them my credit card over the web and download a DRM version for an upgrade.

Not only can I NOT do that but they don't even make it easy for me to purchase in the UK. All I can find is a free upgrade PDF form for people that bought 4 in the last 2-3 months!

Help!! I'd like to buy an upgrade...

If you want to use Edius 5 right now then download the demo version which you can use for 30 days. In the meantime place an order at your favourite dealer and wait for the parcel. Problem solved.

Why so hard? Why not off the net? Why don't they at least tell me a few dealers in the UK? Not cool customer service...

        download a DRM version
        V5 needs a new dongle,
V5 is shipping with a new dongle
I love this variant with new dongle

I can tell you more than one annoying story
from the other (i.e. Avid) download variant, .... with "dongle-updater-files"
horrible story's if the "flash up process" from the dongle failed....

find and call your local reseller :

friendly greetings from europe\austria\vienna ... old (but not morbid) Hans

Why don't they at least tell me a few dealers in the UK?
Hy, I am a old men, without english as native language and find the above list in 2 minutes...

The complete package has several gigabyte of data. Even with todays bandwith it would be not consumer friendly. And of course you can't download a usb dongle.

Where did you buy version 4? I'm sure they have V5 in stock.

Dealers in the UK are listed here:

This website is for sale! thomsongrassvalley.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, thomsongrassvalley.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

We have investigated the possibilities of online shopping portals, but it is both extremely costly, and difficult to implement given the nature of Thomson Grass Valley sales and distribution structure. In other words, EDIUS is only a very small entry in a much larger portfolio of product lines, which in many cases features a much different sales model.

Additionally, if you choose to run the v5 demo, you'll have to uninstall it and install the retail version once you receive it. Plugging in the dongle will not suffice.

www.dvc.uk.com sell Edius and are very knowledgeable regarding video editing and grass valley stuff in particular. You can buy full edius systems amongst other things. I bought my Edius 5 upgrade through them. Excellent company. If you do not like them contact UK distributors www.holdan.co.uk for list of resellers in your area.

                      "Balistix",

Not sure if someone would have objected to me posting the vendor I bough the upgrade from in the UK, so I sent you a PM. Got it without any hassle whatsoever.
